Ayat-Ayat Cinta: The Novel
Its the first novel that I’ve ever read, seriously. Most people will read the novel first and watch the movie later. After reading the novel, I realise why people, especially the fans, criticise the movie badly. Not every part of the novel can be taken into the movie. The movie is just an adaptation to suit the current situation and taste.
However I agree with one blogger, who said that the Bahasa Malaysia version is the worst ever. I found that the blogger is a teacher, who might be teaching Bahasa, and that’s why she criticised it. I can say that it is more likely as a Indonesian-Malaysia language. I also get confused with some of the grammatical error and poor sentence structure.
I have been watching lots of Indonesia sinetron for the past few years. So its not a big deal because most Malaysian understand Indonesian language.
Among the huge different from the novel is the first person story telling. In a movie, it shows and develop each character beautifully. Some of the plot was changed just to give better impression and more surprising elements to the audience. The novel itself has a lot of Islamic teachings as if I’m reading a fiqh, sirah and other knowledge. That is why it is called a soul development novel, popularly known as Islami.
Check out my first preview of the Ayat-Ayat Cinta. It was two months ago when I still don’t know where to get the book. Credit goes to my friend, Kamal who lend his novel to me. It took me 3 days to finish the entire novel.
This is a must read book of the year. Try reading it if you are sick of Harry Potter, Narnia and others. No offense. Hehe

1. If you want to buy indonesian novel, do not buy the translated-to-Malaysia-malay version. It sucks. You lost the feeling reading it.
2. I bought my indonesian novels from Indonesia. Pakai paypal la brader huhuh.
3. I cried reading the Ayat-ayat cinta and Laskar Pelangi (by Andrea Hirata). Reading Laskar Pelangi made me reschedule my life.

can i really comment on ur blog??
I read the novel a few months ago… The novel is really different from other novels i’ve read before…
The plot lingers around fahri, which is described as a very pious and ideal Muslim… I actually cried a few times reading the novel… If only we can emulate some of his character….
The novel is so good that I refuse to watch the movie… i’m afraid i’ll get disappointed watching the adaptation….
