Welcome to Pulau Pinang

Pulau Pinang is one of the state in northern part of Malaysia. It has the iconic symbol of the longest bridge in South East Asia which is the Penang bridge. There are two parts in Penang which is the island itself and part of the mainland in the Peninsular Malaysia.
That’s just an introduction. Why do I post about Penang this time? This is because I’m now in Penang. So what’s the big deal about being in Penang?
I’m currently doing my practical over here. So I will be staying in Penang about four months, from August till November. Earlier, I was doing my practical in Rawang and this time, I’ve gone farther to the north.
I am staying in a condominium near Bukit Jambul. If I want to compare BJ with any area in KL, its best to describe it as a modern Chow Kit. It is one of the important nodes here. It has lots of premises surrounding one huge shopping complex. Not to forget that multi racial people from all over the place live harmoniously here.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN PENANG
How to get here? From Puduraya in KL, there are two main destination in Penang which is Butterworth and Penang itself. If you choose to come to this beautiful island, the bus terminal here is located at Sungai Nibong. From there, you can choose a taxi or buses and make your way from Batu Maung to George Town.
However the taxi system here is unique. It has a good service as we can negotiate with the driver about the fare. The minimum rate would be RM15 and it depends on where you are going. I’d prefer using buses.
After being a loyal customer of RapidKL, now I’ll become the trustworthy passenger of Rapid Penang. There’s a different of the ticketing system on the bus yet the bus looks the same. In KL, we have that RM2 ticket for the whole day trip which is quite economy for commuters. However in Rapid Penang buses, the system is like the Metrobus in KL. But its a one man show. The driver will give your ticket which is based on your distance.
So, I’m just wanna wish myself, welcome to Penang and have a good life here!
