Blogspot vs WordPress

After evaluating self hosted blog using WordPress for 8 months, I think Blogspot still rocks. I really missed using Blogspot because:
Blogspot remains user friendly.
Wordpress is also user friendly. But WP has been upgraded into many version and it has become complicated. I prefer only having the Save, Publish and Preview button like Blogspot. No need to have those extra settings. I wish I can hide them just to ease my mind.
Besides that, Blogspot has upgraded their interface, dashboard, (draft version is available too) and widget element window. I’m not sure if there’s more.
Blogspot coding is much easier
Wordpress layout requires lot of PHP coding. I was like having a culture shock when shifting from Blogger Template Code to understanding PHP code. Blogger Template Code is much more easier to type, remembered and digested. If you put wrong PHP code, then you will be in trouble. So Blogspot coding really rocks.
New layout design
During the last weekend, I’ve wasted my time redesigning my Blogspot and Portfolio Blog. I’m not into graphic design at the moment, so I just play with the CSS and DHTML.

The conclusion here is that, blogging platform is not that important. The important thing is what you blog about and how your blog contribute to yourself and your readers.
P/S – Tun Dr. Mahathir is using Movable Type. I hope I can review on MT soon.

yea. i also have a tripod account till now. i’ll share wif u later..
movable type is another blogging platform.but not that popular. as fas as i concern, only TDM uses it.

tapi wawa sangat rajin tukar layout blog dia. aku pun tak leh nak kira bape kali dia da tukar layout. huhu~

WordPress is better if you have lots of dynamic content, it re-renders everytime a page is loaded. Love the pages features as well.
But then, Blogger static HTML is a boon as well for page with high hits. It also tend to load faster.
This difference also affect the ranking of the blog. According to my experience, WordPress blog climbs to higher ranking in search engine faster than Blogger.
Odd, considering Blogger is part of Google.

Aku lebih suka self hosting wordpress… sebab kita dapat full control of our page… tak kisah la rumit sedikit , yang penting its our page… we can do what we like…
