Final Exam

Its the end of the semester and its a common thing to see students are becoming hardworking and bookworm in this season. No matter what courses they are taking, this is the three weeks time where studying is being given the most priority in daily life.

Usually in UIA, students will be taking 6 or more subjects in a long semesters. However, it is totally different from design students like me and my friends. There are some semester where I don’t have any exam for the core courses and only for the university subjects such as languages and Islamic studies.

Guess how many papers do I have to sit this time? Its only one subject but unfortunately the paper falls on 1st April. Its not an April Fool OK. Students are too busy to fool anyone because of exam. I hate it because the exam week starts on 23 March and can you imagine if my ONLY paper falls on the first week, then I can have earlier holiday than others. Eventually, I’m not studying in the first week. Just started to check my notes 2 days before the exam. My ONLY paper for this semester is Material and Processes 2.

How about other subjects? FYI, design students are basically doing lots of coursework for the subjects. This semester I have design studio, structure, research method and virtual reality which all of them are assessed by assignments and project. So its a common thing when other students in UIA will envied with KAED students because in the exam week, we are doing nothing. Some of us only have few papers and most of the time we spent leisurely such as playing computer games or watching series and movies. Plus extra ibadah I suppose.

Through my observation, I can say that there are two main exam venues in UIA which is the Cultural Activity Centre (CAC) and KAED building. In these two venues, the officer will cramp almost every single space and rooms for exam. In CAC, they have the main hall, both level of foyers as well as the conference rooms. While in KAED, the exam are conducted in the gallery, seminar rooms and studios. I guess they started to conduct more exams in the same time and venues in this semester.

About my first and the last paper, again, I’ve got the first row in the exam hall. Its been a quite of number where I’ve got myself sitting on the first row. So I’m consider myself as being lucky to have the first row for few times. The good thing is that I can only see the exam assistants or invigilators and not my friends. This is necessary because I will give full concentration on my paper. I remember in my schooldays where I use to cheat during monthly exams. Hehe. In UIA, when you caught in cheating, you are exposed to the discipline offences which may lead to expulsion. Pretty scary huh?
