Its been a week since I’m working on IB Zine Theme 1.0 for WordPress. Its a theme which I dedicated for IIUM Bloggers blog.
What is IIUM Bloggers?
IIUM Bloggers is a blog which have a network of IIUM students’ blog from various Kulliyah. It was founded and funded by Szakif who wanted to share IIUM news and issues with other bloggers. It is a community and multi contributer blog which allows other registered users to post anything that relates to IIUM, academic, tazkirah, tips and so on.
Load fast
Since I wanted to see some improvement on the blog, I’ve suggested few ideas to make it a looks better with interesting features. So, Szakif had invited me to become one of the administrator and manage the blog with him. Since I wanted to change the look first, this is what I’ve come up. A new theme that I called it as IB Zine Theme.
Simple and minimal
IB Zine is an experimental theme where I’ve wanted to make it looks simple and minimal. Unlike Grungew theme which is more into graphics, IB Zine don’t have much graphic. What I have in mind is that I wanted it to load fast. However, since I’ve put some additional plugin, it took some time to load.
Ad-optimized
Basically its a three column blog which have introductory header as I wanted to invite more bloggers to join. More features will be added soon. I also had make it an ad-optimized so that I can put some Nuffnang and Adsense into the header and columns.
Browser issue
While designing this theme, I’ll have to make sure it renders correctly on four browsers, IE, Firefox, Opera and now Chrome. The most important for me is to make sure it looks good on IE. Most people still using IE6 and that’s my main concern especially if students are browsing the net from computer labs or cybercafe.
P/S – I hate Chrome. There’s no way you can Search for a word inside a Form Textarea.

which is soooo wrong, because Adlan has suggested A LOT OF IDEAS for enhancement and a better look in the community blog.
