First of all, Happy New Year to all my loyal readers and respectful visitors. This is the first entry for the year of 2013.
2 years and counting.. Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah, because of Him, I’m now living my life, transformed into a different person than I used to be.
2 years of marriage
Marriage institution or Baitul Muslim is one of the life changing episode in my life. It’s not just changing a status on Facebook from single to married, but it is far more than that. I am a husband to my beloved wife, have become a part of a bigger family and soon, InShaAllah will become a father to our future generation.
It is from this marriage, that I learned to become a more responsible man. My perspective of love, relationship and family has widened and it’s a good thing.
2 years living abroad
It was one of the biggest decision in my life, to come to Australia with my wife, leaving behind my good-paying day dream job, falling into a state of uncertainties. Yes, at first, I didn’t know what to expect, living abroad away from my family.
Life was hard in the first year, and soon it became better as Allah gave me the strength. This made me reflect on one of the verse in Quran, Al-Baqarah:286.
“Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. ”
It’s just a matter of attitude. All these years, I have been submitting myself to Allah, and He eases me through this challenging life.
Grass is greener on the other side.
Or as the Malay proverb goes, ‘Hujan emas di negeri orang, hujan batu di negeri sendiri, lebih baik di negeri sendiri’. From these two years, I have been training myself to see the world differently. Living in comfort zone and living outside of it. I would suggest that if you get the opportunity to live abroad, in any part of the world, just go for it.
Living in Australia with its strong Aussie Dollar will make you understand and appreciate the ‘hujan emas’ but deep inside, you’ll know that it’s the ‘hujan batu’ that makes you grateful with what you have.
2 years in dakwah bandwagon
Yes, this is the most important life changing event in my life. Alhamdulillah, from these series of events, from the time of marriage and coming to Australia, it looks like I’ve been chosen by Allah to learn and understand the meaning of life better.
It is an indescribable feeling but now, I know who am I, what’s my role and responsibility for the society and Islam. I guess I need to write this one in another entry.
Everyone has their own story, and this is my story.
