I planned to watch this movie on the first screening day but since I have induction course of Taaruf Week, I watched it after everything is over. So, here’s my personal review of the sequel.

New costume
I like the new costume. It looks better in chilli red and I believe that its also lightweight compared to the old one.

Custom made Naza Bike
Its the first time I’ve seen a Naza Blade 250R with a custom design for a Malaysian movie. But, it was just a cosmetic. I still fancy Batman Tumbler Bike design. View original bike here.

Better fighting choreography
I like the actions during Rrama scenes. Good choreography too. I know most of the action was done by the stuntmen. Its easier because both Cicakman and Rrama wear mask. But the Ginger Twin Ghost relies solely on the flame effects.

Hollywood style CGI
Well done Yusry for the good CGI quality. Most of the time, I hardly tell which one is CGI or real image. I know that the tank is a CGI but the rendering is so superb. However, I don’t like the motion blur effects during the motorbike chasing scene. It should have become like Die Hard 4.0 highway chase style.

Lack of promotion
Compared to the first movie, there was a hype as they advertise the trailers on TV weeks before the screening. Promotion is important but they should have more creative marketing strategies. By the way, they have done a good job on the official website which was established months ahead.

Poor heroic character
I don’t think that a superhero should have the humour and funny elements. It simply downgrade the character himself. A superhero also should be good at making decision. I hate it when he’s trying to catch the thief but he waits for the traffic light to turns green. WTH. He simply can climb the wall and jump across the road. I know when it comes Saiful Apek, it should be funny movie. But when he’s wearing the mask, he should have been a bit serious. Superhero is not supposed to be a laughing stock.

Believing in fortune telling?
In the movie, Hairi went to a fortune teller. I pretty don’t like the idea because Muslim are not supposed to believe in what the fortune teller or Feng Shui masters tell us. Its an easy way for becoming Syirik. Since the movie is rated for general viewing, parents should teach their kids saying no to fortune telling.

Suggestion for the next sequel
I pretty like the idea of The Dark Knight movie. If there’s a sequel of this movie, I hope it can be DARKER and HEAVIER movie where the villains is super cruel and intelligent. Good plot is the main thing, but actions and CGI will be the added value for a movie. With the establishment of the new studio in Cyberjaya, I hope KRU Studio will become successful in the future. I never met KRU eventhough I used to pass Wisma KRU near Setiawangsa.

P/S – I wonder if Pepaya can come up with a movie soon.

Just as I expected from the Hana Yori Dango season 2, finally they have come to an end. In Japan, this movie is also known as Hana Yori Dango Final was released on June 28. Just as I expected from the Hana Yori Dango season 2, finally they have come to an end. In Japan, this movie is also known as Hana Yori Dango Final was released on June 28. It was released in Malaysia on October 30th. Since I’m not patience enough to watch it online, I even went to KLCC just to watch this movie. This movie was uploaded and you can watch all 8 parts through Mysoju.com. Here’s my review.

CAST
Most of the characters from the drama series were also appeared in this movie. But the story focuses more on the development of the couple only. I like Mao Inoue because she’s cute and innocent. I used to think that Matsu-jun is a very skinny guy because he used to wear few pieces of shirts especially in Gokusen drama. This is the first time he show more action and skin to the screen.

PLOT
In this movie, the story is all about what Makino and Domyoji went through before they can married to each other. Its kinda funny to see they going for adventure of their life time all over the world. From Las Vegas, Hongkong, deserted island and back to Japan.

This movie is not like a typical love drama but the movie is action packed with criminal-chasing actions, castaway on island, Casino Royale, conspiracies, black market auctions and many more. Too many variety in this movie but its not a heavy drama. It also have lots of humour elements. I don’t remember how many times I laughed out loud together with all the audiences in the cinema.

CINDERELLA STORY
It applies Cinderella’s plot where a rich person fell in love with a person from a different background. I guess the same plot was also applied in Ayat-Ayat Cinta, the beautiful love story about Fahri and Aisha.

INSERT SONGS
I never listened to Arashi’s song until I’ve watched the drama. This time again, the insert songs are One Love by Arashi and also Kiss hug by Aiko.

Okay. That’s all for a quick review. I’d like to give this movie a 3.5 stars. If you have plenty of time, do watch it online or buy the DVD. You can also check their website here if you do understand Japanese.

P/S – haven’t watch any J-drama and also love stories for the past 4 months.

KAMI THE MOVIE hits local cinema on first day of Raya, 1st October 2008. Since its not very wise to go to cinema during Raya, I’ve planned to watch it later in Penang. So check out my review.

Storyline

The storyline is great. It really focus and develop each characters. Most of the times, its hard for me to predict what will come next. Congratulation to the script writer, Fariza Azlina Isahak. I think this is the first movie that has escape convict (like Prison Break). Nas-T is really cool with all the stunts. Em maybe there’s a stuntman for that purpose.

Casting

This movie is a teenager movie and most of the characters are new comers in the industry. Despite being new, all of them are really good in acting. Sofie and Adii are cute too

Cinematography

Not bad. The fighting scene in the opening reminds me of Bourne Movies, as if the cameraman was also into the fight. By the way, I wonder what’s wrong with the video quality when Sofie give cupcakes to all her friends. The video looks like a handycam quality.

Issues

Now let’s get serious. Basically KAMI is a movie that shows a bunch of teenagers that believe in hedonism. They enjoy music by going to gigs and abuse drug to solve their problems. This movie also far from being Islamic. At least Lyn should teach Abu to say ‘syahadah’ before he died.

Censored
Teka-Teki ****. And another one is their original tagline, “Hidup ini memang <del datetime="2008-10-07T15:35:14+00:00">palat</del>, tapi esok masih ada” as mentioned by Abu. Abu is so stupid to come up with this quote. I know that life is sucks, but are you sure that you can live tomorrow? In the end, he died anyway.

Sequel
KAMI truly follows J-Drama style. They produce the series first, leave the final episode hanging and finally they come up with Special Episode or movie to end the series. I don’t think there will be any sequel. Maybe they will produce KAMI series for the second season.

Memories
Watching KAMI makes me reminiscing of my schooldays. I haven’t been to any gigs eventhough my classmates always discuss about it. I was a YM addict because I enjoy making friends and having blind date (like Adii did) few years back.

Overall, I’d give this movie a 3.5 star. Check out ProjekKami.com for more information about this movie.

I want to pamper myself yesterday. So I’ve decided to go for a movie at BJ Complex which is situated next to my condominium. Since there’s no other good movies left, I’ve decided to watch the Susuk movie.

I’ve read a lot about susuk through Mastika and other sources but I never watched the real thing. Its hard to understand how those gold or silver needle, planted under human skin. There’s no documentary yet so far in Malaysia. I wonder if Misteri Nusantara (TV3) has a documentary about it.

When I watch the making of Susuk at TV, the director, Naeim Ghalili and Amir Muhammad claimed that they wanted to explore a new theme for a film which has become a taboo in our society. That’s why they choose Susuk as their theme.

About the storyline, I simply love it because it simple yet it also has some element of surprise and suspens. Despite having the same characters in Ezora drama such as Diana Rafar and Anne Abdullah as Soraya and Mona. Diana Rafar is a good actress. Both in the drama and also in this movie.

However the ending of this movie left the audience a big question mark. Is there any sequel for this movie?

I also like the CGI approach in this movie which is more than enough to show the effect of the susuk. The beheaded chinese lady part was pretty scary. Another one is when the needles came out from Sofea Jane’s pretty face. That’s why I mention here, Susuk movie has set a certain benchmark for Malay film industry. Beside that, I also love the camera as well as the transitions which simply use creative CGI to illustrate between the scenes.

I guess its worth watching the movie because I’ve got RM6 ticket every Wednesday.

P/S – Susuk movie poster won the best poster design at Festival Filem Malaysia Ke21. (Source).

The Dark Knight. One of the darkest movie this year. By the time I write this post, its already achieved the biggest box office this year.

This review is dedicated to Azuwachan, who really into TDK at this moment. She wanted to know what I think. Here it goes.. Continue reading →

The Dark Knight. One of the darkest movie this year. By the time I write this post, its already achieved the biggest box office this year.

Joker is the main villain in this movie. He’s not a clown and he doesn’t make any jokes. He is very cool, confusing, tricky, opportunist and smart. He’s really good in playing with people’s mind and emotion. A good psychologist! That’s why Batman feel guilty and wanted to turn in. The make up on his face really shows that he’s a scary guy. Why so serious?

Next is Harvey Dent (Two Face). So poor because he died too early. But I like the two-face CG effect as he’s got burnt on his face. Pretty scary to watch his eye ball popping out like that. I enjoy watching the development of his character.

I’m going to give few awards for Batman. First of all, I love his suit. The suit was better than the last Batman Forever. His mask has a flexible collar which allow him to turn his head. Earlier, the firm and solid design requires him to turn his body if he wanted to look around

Next award goes to the Batmobile a.k.a The Tumbler which transform into a motorcycle. Its pretty cool to see how it transform. Yeah, the earlier Batman ejects some Batmobile parts to go through an alley.

What’s next? Batman has better choreography. He doesn’t relies much on his gadgets. The best innovation is the sonar technology that he used when looking for Joker in the building.

However, there are some drawbacks in this movie. I would say it was quite long, 155 minutes. I thought the story will be end for good, but there’s more and that was a nice surprise element.

I’ve read a review on newspaper which suggest that this movie was rated 12A overseas. Malaysia’s give it a ‘U’ which is for general viewing. How come such brutality can be consider for public audience?

I’m sorry for such review. I’m have been inspired by all the graphics, design and technology in this movie. I enjoy watching this movie and I’m giving it 4.5 stars.

Its been awhile since I watch a movie at a cinema. As usual, my best neighborhood cinema will be the MBO at Galaxy, Ampang. I want to watch for a good action packed movie and I want to give ‘Hancock’ a try. I was a bit confused whether to watch Malay film ‘Sepi’ which featuring Afdlin Shauki as one of the main roles. Since time is running out, I’ve decided to watch Will Smith in his latest action movie, Hancock.

So, why did I only 2.5 stars to Hancock?I don’t really like the movie itself. I pretty like the introduction of the character. He’s just like a normal guy whose have a super power but he doesn’t know how to contribute to the society. He’s wasted. It also has a good storyline, where he went to the jail and becoming a brand new superheroes.

Besides that, it also has a superb CGI. It is important to show how tough Hancock is. The action is awesome. I like it when Hancock is fighting with his ‘wife’ and causes damage to the entire city. Too many damage but that’s cool. I wonder how are the authority gonna clean up the mess.

Now, what’s wrong with the movie? Again. A good movie should come up with a good storyline. Basically, Hancock promotional posters managed to capture my attention by the tagline ‘he’s saving the world’. Now where is that part? Who is he saving the world from? It sounds big but there’s nothing in it.

I hate it when movie producers are trying to give good impact on the CGI but they are lacking in term of the good storyline. For the best CGI, I would recommend Transformers movie.

P/S: Hancock is not related with Hankook

This movie is an adaptation of a novel written by Habiburrahman El-Shirazy from Indonesia. I don’t read novels so I don’t wanna compare with the original story here. Maybe most of the readers are quite disappointed with the movie but I think the movie is great. I think it has the soul development element which really touches my soul.

I’ve just heard about this movie from my friend who watches it last month. But since my life is hectic for past few weeks, I don’t have time to copy from him. After everything is over, I’ve download it and watch it to understand what’s exciting about this movie.

For those who never watches or read about this story, here’s the brief summary. Its about a guy named Fahri who studies in Al-Azhar University, Cairo, with four girls in his life, Maria, Nurul, Noura and Aisha. He’s a very good, Islamic, has strong faith, always doing good deeds with the girls and that’s why all four of them loves him. Then he married to Aisha and Maria.

I think this movie is interesting because it has lots of Islamic message regarding muamalah among male and female, relationship with non-muslim, marriage and many more. I don’t know how to describe it but for a someone like me who needs some guidance with my troubled relationship, its a good to escape for a while.

However, this movie is not that Islamic at some scene because there are parts where they kissed and hold each other hands. I can say that all of them are good actors and the script is nicely done. I also like the cinematography because it helps in delivering the message to the audience. If you had noticed, while Aisha is kissing Fahri, their faces were hidden behind the window frame. Some audience may be disturbed if watching such scene and the director really have a good eye in most of the scenes.

About the polygamy, after watching this movie, I really think that its hard to be just to everyone as we know, its hard to please everyone. And its even harder when you have two beautiful wives at the same time. Maybe the lesson here for me is that don’t treat girls really nice because they might fall in love with you easily.

Finally, I love this movie because in this region, Malaysia and Indonesia, there is lack of soul development movies like this one. I’m getting sick watching all the romance and teenagers love movies with lack of Islamic message. So I’m suggesting to you guys, if you want some wind of change, try this movie. Maybe you can watch it at Youtube or just search for its torrent.

I’m giving this movie 4 stars. Watch it and love it!

Its one of the most anticipated movies by the local scene in Malaysia, the KL drift movie which sounds like the Tokyo Drift few years ago. The release date is very suitable for me since I was just finish my final exam on 1st April, this movie was open on 3rd April. I just love to watch movies after I finished one busy semester as a treat to myself. Since I have nothing to do on that day, I went to KLCC after booked my tickets online. Its kinda cruel at TGV because I only late 15 minutes and they already cancel my reservation. Its OK because its still early in the morning and no crowd at 10.30 am. I can say that there are less than half of audience were watching the first show on that day.

OK now lets have some movie review. It was the first movie directed by Yusof Haslam’s son. I think that he manage to do that movie because his father owns the Skop Production and its pretty good for him. Even his dad challenged him to finish the movie in 35 days, he did it in 38 days. I think he can become a good director since he’s still young. Long way to go bro. By the way, they keep mentioning that this movie is made from teens for teens (audience) and that’s why the theme revolves around friendship, love and nightlife.

I pretty like the idea of using all real cars and no CGI (Computer Generated Imagery). That is why the drifting part looks cool and realistic. Eventhough CGI can help in making them looks real, but the feeling is not the same. Just like previous drifting movies, Initial D and Tokyo Drift, plus Impak Maksima, I believe that CGI can give some difficult camera shots and some tricky techniques. I just hated it when in Impak Maksima movie, where they blow up the car in the end, its such a pathetic scene. The visualizer should study more lighting and rendering technique to produce more realistic scene.

The characters in this movie is good and I think they act real good. If you have watched Aaron and Fasha in a drama before, they usually don’t have such character. And for this movie, their character has change 180 degrees. Its cool to see how evil Aaron is and how aggressive Fasha is. By the way, some dialogue of Aaron is pretty funny. I don’t know why but listening to his ‘lu gua’ lingo is not acceptable for such a gangster.

Next, is not about the movie but the website. I think they wanted to imitate like the Tokyo Drift website but eventually it ends up hopeless. I don’t know what went wrong with the layout and for me the website looks incomplete. You may check their website at kldrift.com and you’ll understand what am I talking about.

Finally is the collaboration between Skop Production and Grand Brilliance. They said that this is such a good collaboration because Skop Production is really good in the technical and film production while the GBSB is expert in the promotional and marketing stuff. However, I pretty confused down here, why is that they don’t really invest in the newspaper advertisement? If you have noticed, they do have lots of trailers in the television, but they don’t really invest much in newspapers. I would say this because in all major newspaper I read, all of their poster in the newspaper is BLACK AND WHITE which means NOT IN COLOUR. Its hard for me to get a look at their coloured poster. Even not in their website too. They should have produce wallpapers sections perhaps for downloads. I guess they cut their budget on newspaper ad is that because this movie itself has taken more than RM2 million and they only can think to promote no matter its in colour or not.

In addition, I’m kinda like the soundtrack for this movies. The songs are KL Drift and Buatan Berbisa, composed by James Baum ft Mahadir and Sameer. If you wanna listen to the KL Drift song, check you this http://youtube.com/watch?v=JPYCdUvcba0. Before this James Baum has composed Skirt and this time its sounds just perfect. Maybe if there’s no Shamsul’s voice, it’ll be better.

I guess I will give movie 4 stars and would like to recommend you guys watching this movie. Guess the feeling is better than watching Cuci movie.

I’ve just watched the short film by Wilders called Fitna. Apparently Youtube already has set a limitation for that video access, so please find another way to get to that video. I couldn’t believe how narrow minded that guy is. Total asshole!

He just take a bit of Quranic verses here and there, and make his own pictorial and videographical translation and elaboration. Making the video is easy as picking up videos from Youtube collection and middle east television and compile them together, making a totally wrong mix.

I don’t know how to express it right now but all I can say that all of us have the rights to speak but this guy is totally irritates and annoying. I wonder how God will punish him like the others Theo and that Denmark cartoonist. No wonder why Muslim all across the world is having demonstration. Once you see it and then you’ll know it.

I suppose saying it down here won’t do much to teach him a lesson. Let’s boycott their products.

Shell gasses

Unilever personal care and food products;

Philips electricals and electronics (product design?)

Dutch Lady milks

ING Insurance company

IKEA furnitures at IKANO Mutiara Damansara (furniture design?)

Maybe this picture will enhances your memory on what brand we should boycott. If you are currently using it, maybe use the soap or tea bag until its finished, then buy another brand to replace your personal care product. See, their products is pretty common in our toiletries isn’t it? Okay, no more Walls ice cream. Eventually there are more on the list but here I listed some of the most popular and common among consumer in Malaysia.

When was the last time I’m giving a movie review? Life’s been hectic and I never went to cinema for past few months. As usual, we shared movie through college network and that’s why I don’t care to watch on cinema. I love watching at cinema because of the experience and audio visual system. This time, my sister asked me to watch ‘Cuci’, the first Hans Isaac movie.

Here’s my review. I’m glad that eventhough this movie was sponsored by Celcom, compared to the last time Sumolah, the Celcom advertisement is lesser. The only thing that seems Celcom is the Afdlin’s ringtone which is the Pop Shuvit – Football Mad Nation. Its kinda sick to see too many Celcom billboard and TV ads in the last Sumolah movie.

However its kinda weird to see that there is such a competition among cleaning companies at the Maju Junction building. I still cannot accept that. By the way the romance is cute among the characters. In this movie also we can see Afdlin or Fairil acting as a serious character. Before this he was very humourous isn’t it?

One more if you notice the cinematography during the driving scene. The camera is moving outside the van and the car. Usually film makers just put a static camera in front of the vehicle but this movie has different style. If you don’t get me, try to watch this movie. Finally the comedy in this movie is acceptable and I just loving it. Laughter is the best medicine and I laugh out loud few times because this is what the cinema experience I’m telling you about. Besides, past few days is quite tough and this is one way for me to reduce my stress.

P/S – support local movies!
