While doing my practical in Penang, I’ve joined Usrah GBS under JIM Timur Laut in Penang. In this post, I’d like to sum up all the activities that I’ve joined while in Penang.
I’ve started to know them during the early of Ramadhan. Thanks to my housemate, Hafiz for introducing me to this group. Literally, usrah means family and technically, usrah is a group of Muslims who want to learn and practice Islam voluntarily. (Source : Apa itu Usrah?)
WHY I JOINED USRAH GBS?
When I’m in UIA, I have AKHI Club. Its where I involve with the society and students from all over the campus. But I don’t have any friends in Penang. Human is a social being and we are required to fulfill our social needs. So, in a good way, joining usrah can help me to socialize with people while observing muamalah and practice Islam beautifully.
WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITIES?
There are too many activities that I’ve involved especially during the past two months, Ramadhan and Syawal.
- Jejak Fakir at Flat 100 and Rifle Range
- Program Ziarah Hospital Perdana Pulau Pinang
- Majlis Iftar Bersama Saudara Baru JIM TL, Hidayah Centre dan Surau An-Nur
- Iktikaf at Masjid Ar-Ridhuan Nyior Sebatang – during last ten nights of Ramadhan
Besides that, we also have weekly meetings, tadarrus, riadah at Bukit Jambul and Teluk Bahang and not to forget, raya shopping. 😛 During Raya, I’ve visited their houses too. I told you that I don’t have any other friends in Penang right? Because most of my studio mates are doing practical in KL.
My last program before leaving Penang was an interfaith dialogue ‘Women in the eyes of God’ Where do they stand?, held at Hotel Seri Malaysia. So, I’ll just link to Sis. Shazwani post about the program.
Two months is too short but its a good lesson for me. I never thought that this semester, I’m not just going to Penang for practical, but also for tarbiah. I can say it as kills two birds with one stone. Special thanks to all of you guys; Hafiz, Omar, Syed, Yusni, Izuan, Matzab, Syaaban, Amirullah and the rest of you guys. Usrah GBS rocks! (Rock ke? hehe) InsyaAllah we’ll meet again in the future.
