Langkawi Day 1 – LCCT, Kuah and Pantai Cenang

30 AAD final year students and one lecturer, Mr. Fakhul Zaman went for an edu visit to the mystical island, Langkawi in Kedah. We went to Langkawi on 20th February and returned home on 22nd February. There’s too much to write about the whole trip. So I’ll break it into 4 posts, each posts for each day report.

Journey begins – From KAED to LCCT

Let’s begin on the first day. It was a fine Friday. We depart from KAED about 12pm. Our flight was scheduled on 2.10pm. We have to be there at least 40 minutes earlier to check in.

From my observation, the bus driver will take a longer route, just to minimize the toll payment. He drove through MRR2 and PLUS highway, then he take the exit at Nilai. That cost him only RM1.80 for a vehicle like a bus. For normal car, it will cost about RM3.60 from Sg. Besi to Nilai.

So, here’s the problem. When he wanted to minimize the toll payment, he will take a longer route. This also causes a longer travelling time to LCCT. He went through Nilai and Sg. Pelek before reaching LCCT. It was my first time seeing Centre Foundation Studies (CFS) in Nilai. That’s the good part.

But then, we arrived a bit late and we couldn’t check in our luggage. AirAsia really serious about this. So all of us will have to carry all the ‘hand luggage’ inside Airbus 320. We departed from LCCT approximately at 2.15pm.

AirAsia – No more free seating

langkawi-day1-lcct.jpg
I wasn’t told about this new thing. The last time I travelled with AirAsia was on April 2008. AirAsia has introduced the Pick A Seat on 13th February, a week before our trip. That’s quite surprising but I guess its a good approach for passengers who wants comfort and privacy.
Read more from TheStar and AirAsia website.

When I get into the plane, I wanted to sit with my friends near the window. Suddenly, a lady come to me and told me about their seats. Then I checked again my ticket and I have to sit somewhere behind with a couple of European. Its OK because the flight will be only 50 minutes. I don’t even have time to sleep. So I just kill the time by reading 360 magazine.

Langkawi International Airport to Dsa Motel

langkawi-day1-lcct.jpg
We have landed on the Langkawi airport about 3.15pm. The next destination will be our motel in Kuah which is Dsa Motel. For the four days in Langkawi, we rent three passenger vans. We stopped by at Petronas to fill some diesel. Its the first and the last time we fill the diesel.

Dsa Motel, Jalan Penarak

langkawi-day1-lcct.jpg
Its one of the cheap motel near Kuah town. About four to six person shared a family room. So my room mates in Langkawi was Idris Shukri, Nik Eiddy Karma, Ilyas Azmi, Sadeed and Fikri Bashri. After check in our luggages, we went downstairs to have some lunch. I don’t know if I can consider it as lunch because its already 5.30pm.

Pick up some friends from the jetty

Four of my studiomates don’t want to spend their money on the flight ticket. So, they simply come to Langkawi by land and water. So here’s the deal. AirAsia return ticket range from RM190 to RM215. Ferry from Kuala Muda to Langkawi cost about RM25. So, maybe you can decide which is a better option? (Consider also the price of toll, petrol, time etc)

Nightlife at Pantai Cenang

langkawi-day1-lcct.jpg
Pantai Cenang is the best beach in Langkawi. Bro. Fakhul said that most of the shops along the street is opened at night. Just like uptown Danau Kota and Bukit Bintang. So, for the first night, we just walk along the street and do some window shopping. We have our dinner at DiFIQa restaurant. After the great dinner, we went to join another group at Restaurant. At that time, they are playing the guess the movie game.

Finally we went back to our room by midnight.

Taking notes during trip?

langkawi-day1-lcct.jpg
Some of my friend may think I’m a geek because I carry my notepad during this trip. Well, if I don’t take any notes, its hard for me to recall it back and blog about it precisely. So, let me be the geek. Haha. My friends may have their own DSLR as their ‘weapon’ but my pen and paper is my best ‘weapon’. I enjoy writing. So why bother?

yeah. i bet you musta missed all the memories with your friend. but its weird to see some of my friends don’t want to go to Langkawi. I don’t think I’ll have another chance like this again.. I’m afraid I’ll regret about it later..
