Langkawi Day 4 – Shopping and Pantai Chenang Revisited

Salam. It was the last day in Langkawi. There’s nothing much to write because I’ve lost my pen two times. So, I don’t write anything on my notepad for the fourth day. So, what’s hot on the last day before return to KL? The best thing in Langkawi is absolutely duty free shopping experience!

Shopping at Haji Ismail Group

After check out from Dsa Motel at Jalan Penarak, Kuah, we wanted to do some shopping. The first place was Idamansuri. I guess the name comes from Idaman Suri Rumah. But we just stay for awhile without buying anything because its not worth it.

We went to another place near Jalan Penarak and the commercial centre. I bet you must have known about the Haji Ismail Group (HIG) supermarket. There are many branches of HIG all over Kuah town. I believe that HIG is very successful because they don’t have any other hypermarket competitors such as Giant, Carrefuour and Tesco. I hope these companies won’t hit Langkawi because many traders will lose their business to these hypermarkets.

Okay, back to HIG.My friend told me that the cigarette is very cheap but the quality is not the same as the taxed one. Maybe the manufacturer uses low quality of tobacco for the non-taxed cigarette.

Chocolates anyone?

Well, I don’t care about cigarette because I don’t smoke. What I love most is the chocolates! We can buy a lot of chocolates in HIG and other shops too for a low price with the same quality. If I was the marketing executive in HIG, I’d propose to have a competitor price advertisement. By comparing the price of chocolate in HIG and Tesco (for instance), customers can decide how much they can save by buying chocolates in HIG.

As far as I remember, here’s the price of the chocolates that I’ve bought.
Hershey Kisses Milk Chocolate 100g – RM 8.90
Hershey Kisses Milk Chocolate with Almond 100g – RM 9.90
Cadbury Turkish Delight 250g – RM12
Toblerone 100g – RM3.90
Ferrero Rocher 8pcs – RM 7.00

Here’s the price as in Giant Hypermarket
Hershey’s 50g – RM7.59
Toblerone 100g- RM5.29
Ferrero Rocher 3pcs – RM3.69
I’m sorry because I’ve lost the receipt. But from the price comparison, you can tell that buying chocolates in Langkawi is worth it. I was in a big doubt about it until I’ve write this entry.

Pantai Chenang Revisited

After shopping, we went to Pantai Chenang about 3pm. It was another hot and sunny day. Very good for sunbathing. One thing for sure, there were many foreign tourist at the beach. Most of them were sunbathing and wearing sexy bikinis. I know its quite tempting but if we have a strong faith or iman, we should not gaze at them. Its hard to resist but people really have to mujahadah when coming to such place. All I want to say is, even though Pantai Chenang is a very beautiful beach with a lot of beautiful temptations, I don’t want to encourage Muslim parents with kids to come to the beach.

We checked in at another motel in Pantai Chenang for the evening. After having some lunch, we walked along the streets to buy a new shade. Seems funny because its already my last day in Langkawi. Then, I’ve stumble upon this directory signage. It was situated in front of a breakfast stall. So, on each panel, there put ‘good morning’ greetings from various language all over the world. Then, we went into the sea and enjoy ourselves from 4.30pm to 7pm.

Langkawi International Airport to LCCT

After we have packed our bags and checked out from the motel, we went straight to Langkawi International Airport. We don’t want to be late otherwise we have to carry all extra sizes bag as hand luggage. This time, I’m more aware of the seating. Our flight take off at 11pm and we arrived LCCT at 1150pm.

I guess that’s all about the trip to Langkawi 2009. Four days three nights with lots of fun with my studiomates. Okay, here’s some extra information about the price that you might have to keep if you want to go to Langkawi in the future.

Basically, the price is quite competitive. Hope this information will be helpful if you want your next holiday in Langkawi.
