Its not about my first visit to my friend open house but its about my first time hosting an open house on the last Raya. Syawal is over and the next celebration will be Eidul Adha in the month of Zulhijjah.
With some extra cashes that I made during my practical, I manage to host my first open house. I guess this Raya is the right time to invite my friend to my small crib here in Keramat. So, I’d like to share some quick tips to organise a open house.
No money no talk. Budget is important especially for the meals. Besides meals, you might have to rent a canopy if you’re inviting more guest.
2-3 main dish will do. Others will be some desserts and drinks. Don’t focus too much for the quantity of the menu but make sure the quality, which mean it should be tasty. Its better if you can prepare the food by yourself. I believe your friends will appreciate if you prepare it rather than using caterers.
The more the merrier. But I prefer if I can entertain all of them. Its hard to entertain 20 people at one time. So, keep the number small or ask them to come in different time.
Its hard to come to my house if people rely on the address. Maybe next time I can prepare a direction map so that I won’t have to waste some quality time to pick them at the LRT station. I’d post an entry about using Google Maps. Here’s the sneak preview.
ZIARAH vs OPEN HOUSE
Next time, I’ll try to invite more people to my open house. But since its Raya, I’d prefer if my friend can just visit my house and don’t wait to be invited for open house. The original concept in Raya is ziarah or visiting people houses. Its not necessary to be invited. My door is always open for visitors. But please inform me earlier so that I can prepare some meals.
Thanks to all of you guys who attended my first open house. Nadirah, Huzaifah and Amirah, Muaz, Ikhwan, Irfan, Khairuddin, Fitrah and Turmizi, Farhat, Hamizie, Amri, Nurulhuda Faris, Izzati Ismail, Aminah Syahida and her sisters, Uzair and Shima, Ilyas Azmi, Hisham Jama, Syafiee, Nik Eiddy, Azuan, Shafiqa Ameera and her family. Hope to see you again next time.
Special thanks to my mum and sisters for helping me preparing the meals and also entertaining my friends. I don’t do the cooking. I just help doing simple things only like boiling and stirring. 😛
