Salam. I went to Bentong, Pahang for AKHI Retreat Program at Cermas Agropark Resort and Training Camp. Our first activity was a visit to Elephant Sanctuary and Deerland in Kuala Gandah, Pahang.
Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre
There are lots of activities with the elephants here. The activities started from 2pm until 4pm. First, they will take some of the elephant for a bath in the river. This is my first time watching elephant bathing before my eyes. Here’s the video clip of the elephants.
Next is the lunch time! Everyone is invited to feed the elephant with some fruits such as watermelon and papaya. The gross thing here is when I feed it to the mouth and I can feel the saliva from the elephant’s tongue! Its OK because I can wash my hand afterwards.
Finally, after bathing and eating, its time to ride on the back of the elephants. Please note that about 100 people are allowed to ride the elephants everyday. You’ll have to get the limited tickets at the registration counter if you want to ride them for FREE!
So, if you want to get up close and personal with elephants, this is the place that you should come. Click here and here for more information about this place.
Deerland
Next, our destination is Deerland mini zoo. According to the owner, Deerland is originally a place where he raises his deers and other animals. Since lots of tourist came there, he transform the place into a mini zoo with various type of animals including deers from Indonesia and Taiwan, snake, birds and sunbears.
This is the place where we can get close with the wild animals. Its my first time to feed deers. Can you imagine how it feels like when you are surrounded by a herd of deers?
After that, most of the animals was caged including parrots and pigeons. After that, I’ve got opportunity to hold a young phyton (ular sawa) around my neck. The leather skin feels really good. It reminds me of the leather bags production emails.
Last but not least, is the sunbear. We are allowed to get inside the compound and pat the bear. This animal can become agressive if they are hungry. Yes, this bear loves honey. The keeper have to feed the bear with honey everyday.
Guess, that’s the trip to the wildlife last week. I’d like to suggest to you guys to visit these places if you come to Pahang next time. Click here for more information about Deerland.

I know this place since the early year their started.
Many people coming to their place now.
Thats good.
See you around.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Both places are great. If only the government provide more funds to improve these two places, I believe they can become among notable tourist attraction between KL and Kuantan! See you around too!
